From our book The agile Manager (small a)
The Working Group provides a way for like-minded individuals to find each other and provide mutual support, but it is loose. A stronger construct is to form triads of peers:
three people with a shared vision, roughly equal status, and an agreement to look after each other. Their three groups will collaborate and form a tribe of people working towards new ways. Then you can jointly take them on a journey of Tribal Learning, to create larger pockets of new ways within the organisation. This is the intermediate stage of growth between team-level experiments and adopting a new way for all.
This concept comes from Tribal Leadership, Dave Logan and John King. The triad technique is not obvious. It is described in detail in The Culture Game, by Dan Mezick.
