Welcome to The Galloping Unicorn book club.

Are you struggling to cope with the deluge of books that are produced each year, even if you limit yourself to the good ones? We know we are. Your tsundoku grows by the day. The only way to cope with the river of content is to have trusted curators filtering it into a channel for you (Harold Jarche taught us this).
This book club is your curator of books related to Open Management. The club is intended for those curious about Open Management, so books will be presented in that context. We choose them, we analyse them, and we guide them through reading them – one book per month (or faster if you wish)
The book club is an invitation to transform the way you work and lead. Through the course lessons, we explore how the principles of Open Management—transparency, trust, autonomy, and adaptability—can help organizations thrive in an ever-changing world. This is not just about reading; it’s about rethinking outdated management practices and embracing new ways of working that empower people and create real impact. Whether you’re a leader looking to cultivate a more open and agile workplace, a professional seeking greater purpose in your work, or simply curious about the future of organizations, this club provides you with insights, tools, and a supportive community to turn ideas into action.
Join up to read books, one per month, faster if you wish. How do you join? By joining Friends of Teal, which is our free “club”. They get all the news about upcoming Book Club events and new book courses. Or just bookmark this page and come back to see what new books we have.

Design Principles
Move fast.
This means no cohort: you read independently. You lose some of the community encouragement, but there wouldn’t be enough meetings in a fast read for it to make much difference.
Community still matters. So we connect you asynchronously with other readers, past and future, of the same book.
How it works
Each month
- You choose a book from a selection we offer. Part of our value add is to curate the list of books. We are open to suggestions for more, but Teal Unicorn will decide the list for members to choose from.
- You can vote for others on the shortlist, or recommend others.
- You buy the book (we don’t choose expensive ones).
- You work through an online course at your own pace, with materials about the book, including extracts, abstracts, highlighted sections for you to read, and exercises to help ponder the content of the book.
- advice on the key bits to read
- extracts within copyright laws
- links to abstracts
- links to forums where it is discussed (if any)
- AI summary
- and of course read the book in weekly chunks
- We may run a meetup at month end to discuss the books people have been reading (run twice, 12 hours apart, to serve all timezones)
- You can create a summation of the book for your future reference.
- We ask your permission to connect other readers of the book with you in future to discuss it.
Initially, the book club is free. It is a lot of work, so we may move to a subscription model later.
