Putting aside the current context of the Mango Mussolini, we talk about Black Swans now in such a way that when one shows up, it’s NOT a surprise. “oh yeah, we expected something unexpected”.
But actually, our preparations for the unexpected were still within the bounds of the conceivable.
We need to be thinking about the Orange Swan, or the Alien Swan, or the 60-foot-tall Swan.
Not that the current situation is really an Orange Swan: Trunt was entirely conceivable, predictable even. i know I’ve been predicting it since before the 2016 election and I’m not very smart. But apparently Muricans couldn’t conceive of it.
But the concept is a good one. Don’t let Black Swan preparations make you complacent.
