Today I learned a bit more of the Netflix story

This is great, but I’d like to see that thinking spread everywhere. Even when not hiring superstars, the team or tribe (not a manager) have an open conversation with people about where they fit on the spectrum and pay accordingly. In Vietnam, we use the Agile community’s version of ShuHaRi with success.
We are still working on convincing some clients to have open pay, but it works for others.
