So much valuable knowledge work is invisible:
teamwork, facilitation, collaboration, cultural energy, morale boosting, mentor, peacemaker mediator, expert guru, coach, advisor, housekeeper, curator, custodian, historian, crosschecker, sensemaker, seer, navigator, leader, champion …
This is why we need to stop trying to reduce individuals to numbers. It’s inhuman.
Why or how would any manager see it all? They only see a few surface interactions, especially from those good at self promotion.
To me, the only test is do the team want this person.
Teams know who they want on their team. Everybody has potential to contribute.
Our value is the product of our team interactions, not the sum of our individual work.
