Complicated

* Most people say "complex" in VUCA, we prefer to say "complicated" - all of VUCA adds up to complex in the modern sense of the word. Complicated refers to the networked, vast, ungraspable sense of complexity. "Complex" means so much more now.

Understanding of the complex VUCA nature of the world, including our work systems, is new thinking which is expanding every decade.

Conventional ways of working are still based on simple, linear models which worked well in a slower, more predictable past, but will not in the future. For most organisations, they are failing already.
