In coming years, we will see what patterns emerge in the remote/office mix of hybrid working.
Knowledge work is a team sport. The team need to decide what is best for them as a group in order to meet the outcomes, taking into account each of their personal needs, but also compromising those needs as much as each is willing for the needs of the team.
It’s a multiway optimisation of personal needs and team needs. Takes me back to my Operations Research classes. Forgotten all of it. Teams and their organisations will iterate and experiment, optimising by approximation.
It will be fascinating to see the emerging solutions. They will form an interesting spectrum of data. I reckon we can safely guess it will be a normal distribution with almost nobody at 100% remote or 100% office, and most each side of 50/50.
