I’m the first to pile it on McKinsey. I’ve been rude as hell. I use them as a case study in my consultant training.
At the same time, the content they produce is good.
It’s the old game of the big consultancies. They hire a few thought leaders to parade around impressing people and closing deals. That’s why I call them show ponies. Then they do the bait and switch to bring in kids in suits to do the actual work.
They’re contemptible though we love them at Teal Unicorn because their failures predispose big organisations to consider boutique teams like us.
And none of that changes the fact that they hire genuine thinkers to create the aura. It’s validly good content.
